Temporary or eternal?

2 Corinthians 4:18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal. [See 2 Kings 6:15-17 and Colossians 1:16 also]. All verses come from the KJV Bible.

Things that are Seen: Material, Earthly, In process, Changing, Temporary, Natural, Limited, This dimension, visible, etc.

Things that are Unseen: Spirit, Heavenly, Wholeness, Changeless, Eternal, Supernatural, Unlimited, God's realm, invisible, etc.

Compare them side by side, word for word. See the obvious differences between the two.

Romans 1:20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: [Since the beginning of time people have seen everything God has made. They can clearly see His invisible qualities, eternal power and divine nature. "They have no excuse for not knowing God." (Especially in today's world with all it's technology, there is no excuse not to know the Word of God].

Colossians 3:2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

The world offers temporary; outward man, material things, temporal solutions, not pleasing to God, no peace, Death, starving of the spirit, carnally minded, evil things. [See Romans 8:8.] [1 John 2:15].

Jesus offers eternity; inward man, spiritual things, eternal solutions, pleasing to God, peace, life, feeding of the spirit, spiritually minded, good things.

Again, compare the above two categories [world and Jesus] side by side. The differences are evident.

Which eyes and ears are being spoken of in the following verses? Matthew 9:30, 13:13-16; John 12:40. Spiritual eyes and ears!

Which do you feel is more important? Temporary or eternal? Actions speak louder than words!

The spirit and soul [can] live eternally, [if] the right choices are made in this life. (Psalm 22:26, John 6:51). What happens if someone makes bad choices? Only God can kill both the body and soul. (Matthew 10:28)

The Bible teaches that a day is coming when the temporary, evil things of this world will pass away. At that moment, all that will matter are the eternal, righteous things of God. Make a good choice today. Seek God's instructions by studying His word. Therefore, I encourage you to begin living with an eternal focus. A day is coming when you will be glad you did!

Don't live as if there is no God, then die and find out there is a God! That would be a bad choice. Here is an arresting thought. You will meet Him. And you will give an account of your life.

God looks at things from a holy, eternal perspective. We look at things from a sinful, earthly, and temporal perspective. We humans can't see and understand what God can.

Eternal/Eternity

Compared to God’s eternity, the days of man are fleeting, a mere blink of the eye in comparison. If we cannot be accepted into God’s eternity, in God's way [make the right choices], then our lives are vain and pointless. Through Jesus Christ we can enter into eternal life. But, sometimes our experience of daily life makes it difficult for us to conceive of, believe in, and relate to eternal life. The reality of eternity should cause us to live for Jesus today, while we may. It should cause us to cast away the passing pleasures of sin, while we can. Again, which is more important, temporary or eternal? Food for thought: The natural man must know in order to believe; the spiritual man must believe in order to know.
