“Every choice carries a consequence. For better or worse, each choice is the unavoidable consequence of its predecessor. There are not exceptions. If you can accept that a bad choice carries the seed of its own punishment, why not accept the fact that a good choice yields desirable fruit”? – Gary Ryan Blair (All verses come from a KJV Bible).
*God will give you wisdom to make good decisions—if you ask Him to give you wisdom.
James 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
*Look to God—not yourself—for wisdom, guidance and good judgment.
Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
Proverbs 3:6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
*The Holy Spirit can guide you into the right decision for the future.
John 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
*God will help you make good decisions if you are humble.
Psalm 25:9 The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way.
*God uses the Bible to reveal what way to go.
Psalm 119:105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
*To make sound decisions, you must first get the facts.
Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction. (Don’t be a fool when making decisions).
* The consequence of deciding not to truly repent of sin is eternal death. Be careful what you ask for!
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
*All humans reap the consequences of their decisions and actions.
Galatians 6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. (Decisions have consequences; some consequences are not immediately evident and can be eternal. Be very careful what you ask for).
*You will be treated in the same way you decide to treat others.
Matthew 7:1 Judge not, that ye be not judged.
Matthew 7:2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. (Again, be very, very careful what you ask for).
All decisions have consequences; some consequences are temporary, and again, some consequences are not immediately evident but can be eternal in nature. You certainly don’t want to make a decision like that.
All other decisions in life should contribute toward that ultimate decision and goal. We must avoid decisions that will detract from putting God and His righteousness first in our life.
But not every decision is a choice of good versus evil. Many of our daily decisions have multiple acceptable options. Some of our biggest decisions also have a variety of possible choices, like what career to pursue, who to marry and where to live. Thankfully the Bible also gives us principles that can help us identify and choose the best options. Explore biblical wisdom to find some of those keys.
