By 1973, Charles Coonradt was exploring how game principles could enhance workplace productivity in his book “The Game of Work.” The digital age brought new possibilities. In 1978, MUD1 (Multi-User Dungeon) introduced the concept of shared online gaming spaces, a precursor to the interconnected digital experiences we enjoy today. But it wasn’t until 2002 that Nick Pelling coined the term “gamification,” giving a name to this powerful approach to engagement and motivation.
