Which type of wisdom and or knowledge do you prefer? Earthly wisdom or Godly wisdom? James 3:15 This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish. [There is earthly wisdom that doesn't come from God. Where does it come from? What does devilish mean? If you think you know it all now, you'll never ask God for true wisdom. A person with this kind of wisdom can lead you astray. This type of wisdom is preferred by many today]. Devilish = proceeding from an evil spirit, demon-like. James 3:17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. [This is heavenly, Godly wisdom which comes from above. Please research the meaning of all the descriptive words using a Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance (pure, peaceable, gentle, etc.). Wisdom from above will help you in this life and the afterlife, unlike earthly wisdom. Here are more of the many pertinent verses on this topic: Psalm 111:10; Proverbs 2:1-22, 4:7 and 9:10; Ecclesiastes 7:12]. Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction. (Don’t be a fool). Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children. The word “Knowledge” in Proverbs 1:7 above, plus many other verses, is word # H1847 in a Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance. knowledge, perception, skill, discernment, understanding, wisdom. The word “Wisdom” in James 3:15 is word# G4678 in a Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance; please see the definition for yourself. In a KJV Bible dictionary: “KNOWL'EDGE”, n. nol'lej. 1. A clear and certain perception of that which exists, or of truth and fact; the perception of the connection and agreement, or disagreement and repugnancy of our ideas. “WISDOM”, n. s as z. G. See Wise. The right use or exercise of knowledge; the choice of laudable ends, and of the best means to accomplish them. This is wisdom in act, effect, or practice. If wisdom is to be considered as a faculty of the mind, it is the faculty of discerning or judging what is most just, proper and useful, and if it is to be considered as an acquirement, it is the knowledge and use of what is best, most just, most proper, most conducive to prosperity or happiness. Wisdom in the first sense, or practical wisdom, is nearly synonymous with discretion. Study your Bibles completely, cover to cover, and gain Godly wisdom and knowledge from Him. | |
