Why did Christ come? | |
Why did Christ come? As promised in many of the Scriptures, Christ came into the world to save sinners by His death upon the Cross, according to the set purpose and plan of God; that the way should be open for sinners to obtain a right relationship with God and the gift of eternal life. Christianity is the only religion to offer salvation first (redemption), not based on our merits, but based on God’s merits (His love for us). No other religion can make that claim; they are based on our merits (works). If one does exactly what is right then they might be redeemed. See the paragraph below: Jesus is the only way to our heavenly Father. To save sinners (most important reason)? (Matthew 9:12-13, 11:19, 18:11; Mark 2:17; Luke 5:32, 15:1-32, 19:10; John 3:16, 12:47; 1 Timothy 1:15; 1 John 3:8 and 4:14). Not to save the righteous (self righteous, hypocrite types) or do away with the law: (Matthew 5:17, 9:13; Mark 2:16-17, 10:45; Luke 5:30-32; John 3:17; 12:42-47). To do His Father's will: (Luke 2:49; John 3:16, 4:34, 5:30, 6:38, 7:28, 8:29, 8:42, 16:28, 17:8; Hebrews 2:14). To fulfill scriptures: (Psalm 22:1-31; Isaiah 7:14, 53:1-12; Matthew 1:23, 11:3-6, Mark 14:49; Luke 4:18-19, 7:20; John 6:14; John 11:27; Acts 8:30-35, 17:3). Did Jesus shun sinners, any kind of sinners? No, He came to save all sinners; not just some, all! Jesus is the [only] way to our heavenly Father! John 10:1, 9, 14:6, 16:23-24; Romans 3:20 (works, adherence to the law can’t save you); Hebrews 7:24-28; He even tells us how to thank Him. He came to save us and He is the only way. Good reason to be thankful. Ephesians 5:20 (always give thanks in Jesus Christ's name); 1 Thessalonians 5:18; God doesn't want any of us to perish spiritually (our souls)! 2 Peter 3:9; Please study your Bibles completely and on your own. You can't learn as much sitting on a bench for 1 hour each Sunday and just listening. Listen, then verify through study. | |
