Will all repent? | |
1 Timothy 2:4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. I would like to ask you some questions. *Are all aware of this loving gift (Grace, unmerited favor, the only way to salvation) to us from God? *Will all come unto the knowledge of the truth in this flesh life? *Will all repent? We’ll see in the near future. *Does God go back on His promises as some men do? *Is the word “perish” referring to this flesh life or the afterlife? My comments: It is apparent to me that according to the above verses God wants all of His children to come to repentance and be saved. I can't say whether it will happen or not, but, I certainly can't disagree with Him. I want all to come to the point in their lives that they choose to accept His gift and repent; He has made salvation available to all. According to 1 Timothy 2:1 we are to try to persuade any and all to repent, pray for them and give God thanks for them; we are to intercede on their behalf. Does this mean we get out on a street corner and preach repentance? No, in many cases, just being a good example is probably the best way to lead others toward God. When they see what you have (peace, joy, confidence, no fear, etc.), they may want some too. Preaching hellfire and brimstone can turn people off in some cases, driving them away from God. There are more verses that tell us that God does not want to destroy anyone; He wants all to repent and live eternally. A few examples follow: Ezekiel 18:23, 32 and 33:11; Mark 6:12; Luke 13:3; Acts 17:30. There are many more. Study your Bibles completely, cover to cover. Learn the truth. I use the KJV Bible only. | |
